BIT411 – Human Computer Interface

Synopsis
This course is to equip students to understand the concepts of Human Interaction with Information systems and their interface design.  It talks about the study of interaction between human and computers. Interaction between human and computers occurs both at the hardware and software level. Students are equipped in this course with interaction design, design of computer interface (not physical, but on paper) using various techniques.

It includes case studies.

BIT 412 – Organization Behaviour
Synopsis

This course is designed to describe the importance of human element in the organization and justify the study of Organizational Behaviour. Topics include, understanding organizational behaviour, perception, personality, attitudes, motivation and various motivational theories, morale, conflict management, stress management, leadership and multi-dynamics of an organization.

BIT413 – Network Computing/Web Application Project 1

Synopsis
In this course, students will work individually or in teams on a real-life project at a firm operating in Ghana. Students will be assigned a faculty advisor. Network Computing students may work on specific network or information technology projects for companies operating in Ghana. Web application projects will be made on developing an end used web application for the firm/department

In addition to a written report, students will be required to make oral presentations to their faculty and advisors.

BIT414 – Distributed Databases

Synopsis
This course is to equip students to understand the concepts of distributed databases, its architecture, implementation and integration using Oracle DBMS.

BIT415 – Mobile Computing

Synopsis
This course is to equip students to understand the concepts of mobile computing. Protocols and standards used to create mobile applications. Understanding of operating system used in mobile phones. Understanding and developing mobile application using J2ME.

BIT416 – WML & WAP Programming Part 1

Synopsis
Understanding of Wireless Access Protocol and developing wireless applications using Wireless Mark up Language.

BIT417 – IT Project Management

Synopsis
In this course, students will learn the fundamentals and best practices of project management methodology as applied to IT initiatives and practice and master the skills they need to deliver IT projects on time, within budget, and to specification.
Topics include examining aspects of IT projects, including hardware, software, vendor relationships, communicating with different audiences, and working with local and remote teams; determining project scope, set and manage stakeholder expectations, identifying and managing IT risks, and meeting quality standards; overcoming the most common pitfalls of IT project success.
