Details of Counseling Facility for Pastoral and Academic Student Support

Pastoral Support

College has constituted a separate department for dedicatedly handling counseling of students for non-academic support. The department, Student Support and Welfare Department, which came into existence this academic session (September 2013), looks into pastoral support to the undergraduate students.

All undergraduate students are allocated a Personal Tutor, who is from their Faculty. Personal Tutor is someone to whom student can go to ask advice about non-academic matters, such as personal and financial problems.  Currently the Pastoral Support is being handled by these staff at both the Campuses:

Accra:

Kumasi:

At the start of the session, students should meet their Personal Tutor, who will explain them about their role and how they can be contacted in case of any requirement. Students are advised to know their Personal Tutor well and maintain a good communication with him / her. Personal Tutor will listen to students and try to help so long it’s within his / her limit. If not he/she shall refer student to the concerned authority.

Academic Counseling

Every registered student is assigned an academic counselor who should be the first to be consulted in case the student has problem of academic nature. It is responsibility of the student to seek advice when there is a problem though the counselor may invite the student whenever the need arises. Academic Counselors for the programs under execution are:

Dr. Kapil Gupta - Ph.D., MBA, FCCA, AICWA, B.Com(Hons)

Chairman - Governing Council

Dr. Kapil Gupta is a dedicated Educationist who believes in leveraging technology in the area of higher learning to bring about social transformation. His rich experience spanning over twenty years in industry and education has been instrumental in growth of ICT and Management education in Ghana. After initial stints in automobile manufacturing, Mining and International Trade, he made a conscious move into Education Sector starting with ICT Education in Ghana by setting up ICT center of excellence in collaboration with NIIT in 2000. Till last count, NIIT had five world-class ICT centers across Ghana. As early as 2001, he was nominated by ghanaclassifieds.com for "Foreign Excellence in Ghana" for his excellent service in the field of ICT and dynamic leadership that also helped NIIT Ghana  to become one of the most valuable company in Ghana Club 100. With high levels of Professionalism and corporate governance, NIIT Ghana bagged the coveted 8th position in the prestigious 2005 Ghana Club 100 ranking in addition to 2nd most Socially Responsible company and 3rd most Profitable company in Ghana. It was also the first and only IT education institution in the Top 100 companies in Ghana for three consecutive years.


In 2007, he started Knowledgeworkz which teamed up with Sikkim Manipal University to bring its path-breaking higher learning to the doorsteps of Ghanaians who would otherwise travel overseas for higher education. To keep pace with the changing demand for professional education in the country, he also formalized collaboration with University of Petroleum Science and Energy (UPES), India and Institute for Professional and Executive Development (IPED), UK to offer Oil & Gas education & trainings in Ghana.

Prof. (Dr.) Sunil Kumar Roy - Ph.D (Management), M.A (Economics), MBA (Marketing)

Rector

Prof. Sunil Kumar Roy, a Professor of Economics, has rich experience spanning nearly three decades in industry and academia. His success story as a marketer is evident in his career spanning over twenty years in which he served various Government and Private Organizations in various capacity from Sales officer to General Manager. His passion for bringing out the best in students by bridging the gap between classroom teaching and industry was eminent when he switched over from the lucrative industry to academia. He taught students of Doctorate and Master’s Program for 9 years and was consecutively awarded best faculty for two consecutive years. Matching his vast experience in Industry, he was given administrative responsibility in addition to his teaching and research assignment in private universities of repute in India. He has a proven track record as Dean, HOD, Head Corporate Resource Center, Head placements & Head Admissions. He is a prolific speaker with over ten national and internationals Guest lectures.  He is an avid researcher and has internationally refereed publications.

Sujith Jayaprakash

Registrar

Mr. Sujith Jayaprakash has over a decade of administrative and academic experience in the education sectors in India, Africa and Latin America with significant experience in Senior Management roles, Student Recruitment, leading institutional academic delivery improvement and education quality development.

He is currently pursuing a Doctorate degree in Computer Science and specialized in Data mining algorithms. He started his Career as a Lecturer and moved towards administration. Since 2010, he has been handling various administrative roles such as Head of the Department, Sr. Manager and Registrar in the education sector and having a vast experience in managing the education business in Sub-Saharan African countries. 

He is a Certified Microsoft Web Application Developer and a Certified Microsoft Trainer. His passion towards technology has helped him in handling multiple IT based portfolios such as IT Infrastructure Manager, Digital Marketing Expert along with administration. He has published nine research papers in National and International research journals and conferences.
