BBF321 Insurance and Risk Management

This course introduces students to the basic concepts of risk and insurance, such as functional and financial operations of insurers, legal principles, life and health insurance, property and liability insurance, employee benefits, and social insurance and the National Health Insurance Scheme Act of Ghana.

BBF322 Corporate Finance

The Corporate Finance course focuses at introducing the students about the various aspects of corporate finance which facilitates the decision making domain pertaining to financing, investment and dividend decisions. This course aims at providing the inputs related to the three major decision areas of financial management of an organization. This course will give the introduction and conceptual understanding about the various topics of corporate finance.

BBF323 Law Relating to Financial Services

This course provides an understanding of fundamental legal principles relating to banking and other financial services. Emphasis will be placed on bank and customer rights, duties, liabilities and the law relating to negotiable instruments, methods of payment, security documentation and capital market instruments as well as fundamental principles of insurance law.

BBF324 Corporate Reporting

This course enables students to understand the statutory requirements and accounting standards employed in financial reports and accounts of financial institutions, and the content and structure of those reports.

BBF325 Derivatives

This course provides students with the knowledge and skills for valuing derivative securities in the investment banking industry, including an introduction to stochastic calculus.

BBF326 Foundations of Cost and Management Accounting

This course provides students with the knowledge and skills needed in the use of cost accounting information for inventory valuation, income measurement, management planning, decision-making and control.
