DIPLOMA IN BANKING TECHNOLOGY AND ACCOUNTING

DURATION: 2 YEARS

The Diploma in Banking Technology and Accounting is a two-year diploma designed around the practical realities of Ghana's financial-services sector — from commercial and rural/community banks to savings and loans companies, microfinance institutions, insurance firms and the fast-growing mobile-money and fintech ecosystem. Ghana's financial sector, overseen by the Bank of Ghana (BoG), has moved rapidly toward digital and mobile-based services in recent years, and organisations across the sector need staff who understand banking operations and accounting fundamentals alongside the technology that now delivers them.

The programme combines core banking-operations and accounting knowledge with an introduction to the digital tools and systems used in modern financial services, so that graduates leave with a working understanding of how transactions are processed, how basic financial records and controls are maintained, and how technology supports both. Learning is framed around real Ghanaian financial-sector scenarios: processing transactions at a bank branch, supporting a savings and loans company's digital records, or helping a small business or microfinance client manage accounts using digital tools.

WHY STUDY THIS PROGRAMME?

  • Directly aligned with Ghana's financial-sector growth — banking, savings and loans, microfinance and fintech are among the most active areas of Ghana's formal economy.

  • A skill combination employers value — banking operations, accounting fundamentals and digital-finance literacy together, rather than any one in isolation.

  • Practical and hands-on — focused on tasks graduates can actually perform in a banking or accounting support role.

  • Two years to workplace readiness — a fast, focused route into Ghana's financial-services job market.

  • Relevant to Ghana's mobile-money economy — mobile money and digital-wallet activity are now a routine part of how many Ghanaians and Ghanaian businesses handle money, and this programme builds familiarity with that environment.

  • A base for professional growth — practical grounding that supports further study toward more advanced accounting, banking or finance qualifications.

  • Opportunities beyond employment — skills that support bookkeeping, basic financial administration and digital-payments support for small businesses.

  • Workplace-ready communication and numeracy — skills built around accuracy, record-keeping discipline and client-facing communication, all valued in financial-services roles.
